Despite the Supreme Court immunity ruling, special counsel Jack Smith still has a chance to present evidence in his election subversion case against Trump. But the former President is reportedly trying to prevent that from happening. Hugo Lowell and Andrew Weissmann join The 11th Hour to discuss.
On the Fourth of July last year, Sen. Josh Hawley stumbled into a mess of his own making. The Missouri Republican — who majored in history at Stanford before getting a law degree from Yale — honored Independence Day by publishing a tweet that quoted Patrick Henry claiming that the United States was “founded ... on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
” In 1797, John Adams agreed: “The government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion.” Americans unsure what to believe have a straightforward choice: They can listen to Hawley, or they can read the Constitution and honor the declarations of actual Founding Fathers. This doesn’t seem like an especially tough call.
