'The View' cohost Joy Behar was missing from the talk show for the fourth consecutive episode
Moderator Whoopi Goldberg addressed Behar’s absence from the Hot Topics table on the Thursday, January 29, episode of the talk show. 'I know you see that Joy isn't here today. She'll be back next week,' Goldberg, 70, explained.
'You noticed she wasn't here. You knew we weren't lowering her down from the ceiling. But she'll be back.' Behar, 83 — who typically has Mondays off — hasn’t been on the show since Friday, January 23. Goldberg told the audience on Tuesday, January 27, that Behar was “not feeling well” but did not provide further details. 'We want to let you know Joy is out, she's not feeling well, so we want her to feel better and get her behind back here,' Goldberg shared. Behar’s current absence from The View comes after she missed four episodes of the talk show in November 2025 due to a health incident. 'Now, I've been off for a few days,' Behar told the audience at the time, while sitting at the Hot Topics table. 'I dropped my iPad on my foot and I broke my toe. And they put the toes together because it's broken, and it's very, very, very painful. I do not recommend you dropping anything on your toes.' Behar joined The View as a cohost for its 1997 debut. In 2013, news broke that Behar would be leaving her role. “You reach a point when you say to yourself, ‘Do I want to keep doing this?’ There are other things on my plate I want to do,” she told Deadline at the time. “I’ve been writing a play, I’ve been neglecting my standup. I do like talk shows, I’m interested in talking to people.” ABC went on to release their own statement at the time, telling the outlet, “Joy Behar has been instrumental in the success of The View from the very beginning. We wish her all the best in this next chapter, and are thrilled that we have her for the remainder of the season.”“I was glad to be fired,” she told Time in 2022. “I basically was sick of the show at that point for some reason, I don’t even remember why.”“Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in,” she said in a statement at the time, joking that her husband Steve Janowitz “was getting tired of applauding every time I gave my opinion.” She continued: “But I’m happy to be back home. And I’m looking forward to sticking my two cents into the hot topics, especially now that Hillary and the Donald are in the spotlight.”
