Let's discuss the most pressing need for enterprises in today’s business environment, where the cloud is extensively used as an engine of agility, innovation and growth: Cloud costs are increasingly becoming unmanageable.
Similar to how the cloud enables the composability of IT through a programmable core, the cost also needs to be measured and controlled dynamically with multiple moving parts through three core pillars—governance, automation and architecture. This is what I term"cost composability.
This area has matured and has seen continual improvement over the past few years, with IT outsourcing and technology partners aiding enterprises in transitioning to predictive operations through relentless automation. The third pillar, architecture, encompasses design and future-proofing technology. Many clients are unaware that architecture plays a critical role in managing, controlling and optimizing cloud spend.
There are four core areas of architecture and operations that need to be addressed to achieve cost composability .How do you continue to measure and manage the capacity and throughput of the resources your applications are leveraging? This involves monitoring the input/output functions between memory and CPU, as well as the read/write ratios.
