Donald Trump's $100 million lawsuit over the Mar-a-Lago raid is very unlikely to succeed, a trial attorney has told Newsweek.Neama Rahmani was reacting to news that Trump is suing the Department of Justice over the 2022 FBI search of his Florida estate, during which agents took away thousands of pages of presidential records.Trump was charged with hoarding classified records and obstruction of justice. He denied the charges and is now claiming political persecution.
Trump was facing 40 federal charges in Judge Aileen Cannon's court over his alleged handling of sensitive materials seized during the raid. He was also accused of obstructing efforts by federal authorities to retrieve them. The Republican presidential nominee pleaded not guilty and said the case is part of a political witch hunt.
