A potential 2020 election showdown between President Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren would undoubtedly be touted as a clash of ideological extremes, but when it comes to economic policy, there is one area where there’s little daylight between the candidates.

Warren has been rising in the polls, leaving her virtually tied, by one measure, with Joseph Biden, the former vice president under President Barack Obama who is perceived as more business-friendly. A strong dollar can be a headwind for U.S. companies doing business overseas. The S&P SPX, +0.91%, however, has rallied around 16% so far in 2019 but is up around just 2.3% from its level a year ago.
