Robert Irwin has his own method of winning. During a Sept. 23 interview with Us Weekly, the wildlife conservationist, 21, explained why he likes to sing along to the music when competing on Season 34 of 'Dancing with the Stars.
' “I no idea about dance, but I do know I love music,” he said. Irwin — who is the only son of late 'Crocodile Hunter' star Steve Irwin and Terri Irwin — added his partner, Witney Carson, keeps telling him to “feel that music” when they’re performing. “For me, singing it, getting into it, and just giving every fiber of my being to this experience, that’s why I’m here,” he said. “I’m so lucky that I have someone like Witney to direct all of this ridiculous tornado of passion and energy into some semblance of skill.” Robert Irwin noted that Carson also tells him to “let the music move your body” and “take control.” Carson’s advice appears to be working. Irwin and the professional dancer came out on top during the premiere episode of “Dancing With the Stars.” The duo, who performed a jive to “Born To Be Wild” by Steppenwolf, received one of the highest scores of the night. They were given a 15/20 along with “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Whitney Leavitt and her partner, Mark Ballas, who also received the same score. Then, for Week 2, he also did well and got a score of 22/30. That night, fans learned that couple Corey Feldman and Jenna Johnson were eliminated along with Baron Davis and Britt Stewart. In a May interview with TODAY, Robert Irwin talked about his chances of winning “Dancing with the Stars,” and said he received some 'tips' from sister Bindi Irwin, who previously won Season 21 of the dancing competition show. “She was incredible,” he said of her performances. “So I am really leaning on all of her knowledge. She’s given me a few tips already, but she never danced either.”
