Comerica's move comes as it faces stiff competition from other banks making investment to have larger footprints in DFW.
Comerica Bank has launched a new investment banking unit within its capital markets business as the Dallas-based organization looks to keep up with competitors and gain market share.
Comerica will be able to provide commercial banking and wealth management with a"more fulsome suite of products and services" because of the new unit, Maier said. "If a customer of the bank wanted to avail themselves of those services, they would have to go elsewhere, perhaps to one of our competitors or perhaps to an independent investment banking firm," Maier said."Now, we have the ability to do the provide those services internally."
