City and United are preparing for the start of the Champions League group stage but have already earned millions before playing a game
Manchester City and Manchester United have already earned millions from the Champions League before kicking a ball. Pep Guardiola’s side rejoiced in Istanbul as City finally got their hands on the famous trophy last season and completed their treble.
Both sides will be confident of making it through to the knockout stages but have already banked €15.64m just for being part of the group stages. There is even more money on offer too, with each team earning €2.8m per win, meaning United or City could potentially add another €16.8m to their prize pot on their way to the round of 16.
If either City or United successfully reach the final, the runner-up would get €15.5m , with the overall winner earning €20m . This means the Champions League winner has the opportunity to earn up to €85.14 , plus another €3.5 and extra €1m in qualifying for - and possibly winning - the 2024/25 UEFA Super Cup.
