Brandon Shirah, owner of Shirah Cattle Company, has a passion for working with cows.
GORDON, Ala. - “We started acquiring a few cows, leasing a little land and from that just grew to where we are today,” said Shirah.
Though he didn’t take over a family farm, he still provided a helping hand when he was younger. The exposure to agriculture at a young age helped him realize he was meant for the industry. “When I was a little kid, there was no doubt what I wanted to do,” said Shirah."I wanted to be in agriculture. I love cattle and horses more than anything else.”“I love cattle. I love horses. I have to make myself go home some days,” said Shirah.Shirah says it can be a grueling schedule, but the results are worth the work.
“My name is Brandon Shirah, and I’m proud to be a rancher,” said Shirah. “A lot of times, I felt it was a curse. It’s long days, long hours, little pay, and it’s challenging on the family, but I realized that God gave me these passions, and he gave me the opportunity to be a steward of his land, his cattle, and there’s nothing else I’d rather do.”and receive the latest local news and weather straight to your email every morning.
