Why Bill Belichick took the North Carolina job instead of waiting for another NFL gig

“North Carolina offered certainty and with the college game becoming more like the pro game in terms of it being a business, with Name, Image and Likeness money, with players transferring for money, with the college game resembling the pro game, Bill Belichick opted for the certainty of having a coaching job at the college level rather than waiting for the uncertainty of waiting to see if he got a coaching job at the NFL level.
“Bill Belichick I’m sure would have been considered for some of those jobs , he’s the greatest coach of all time,” he said. “But whether or not he would have gotten one of those jobs is uncertain.” “Bill Belichick is doing the reverse Paul Brown now,” Schefter said. “He’s won his titles in professional football, and is now going back to college to see how much success he can have there.”
