The reason the presence of his leader Mr Albanese and fellow parliamentarians at the speech was cut short was due to the bells in parliament starting to ring. “Bells ring throughout Parliament House for five minutes prior to the time fixed for the meeting of the House, to call members to the Chamber,” the Australian Parliament House website reads.
“I think there’s a more sensible way of doing it, but again, it’s an election commitment, right?” Mr Dutton told the First Edition host. Mr Dutton continued to criticise the rebate’s short-term impact on lowering inflation, which Mr Chalmers previously said was the primary goal of this year’s budget.
