Why a global biopharma construction firm opened a Jacksonville office
A leading biopharma and life sciences architecture, engineering and construction firm has entered the Florida market by opening an location in Jacksonville office. Headquartered in Kansas City, Clark Richardson & Biskup Consulting Engineers — known as CRB — now has 21 offices in the U.
S., as well as Basel, Switzerland and Stuttgart, Germany. The company was involved in more than 20 projects connected to Covid-19 vaccine rollouts during Operation Warp Speed, and their work also extends to mRNA therapy and cell and gene therapy. In the food and beverage space, their work includes alternative proteins and pet food. CRB Director of Life Sciences Gary Kaplan will lead the Jacksonville office. He said the company already served clients in Florida, but a presence in the state allows the company to better recruit talent. The primary focus of the Jacksonville office will be life sciences. “CRB’s business model is always going to be local to our clients and also to provide diverse locations so we can access our best talent across the country,” Kaplan said."Jacksonville allows us to tap into that life sciences market and attract that world class talent.” Kaplan said the company looked at the Gainesville area with its burgeoning biotech field. However, Jacksonville was a larger city well-suited to attracting talent, he said.We feel like being in the market here, we’re able to help this growing and booming market in Florida, we can be part of that growth and help drive that,” he said. Kaplan said the Jacksonville office, located at 10375 Centurion Parkway N., has the space for approximately 20 people, though could be driven by growth of the life sciences market. “We’re not limiting ourselves to that. If the growth requires us to staff up more than what we can support out of this space, we’re going to look for larger space, whether its expansion in our current location or finding a different location,” Kaplan said.
