She's making major waves in the modelling industry
The model, who is the daughter of Yolanda's businessman brother Leo van de Herik, has hundreds of thousands of followers across Instagram and TikTok, where she pushes for change in an industry that has, for so long, promoted a very specific body type.
Most recently, Joann Van der Henrick uploaded a TikTok video titled: 'When people say they don't like fat girls' in which she danced to a song with lyrics 'I'll be honest I don't really understand it' and it quickly went viral. We like to see it. Joann has previously modelled for Debenhams in the UK and said while she's always dreamed of being a model, she feared there wasn't space in the industry for someone of her shape.
"I think it's very important to show all the boys and girls out there that size doesn’t matter and that you're perfect the way you are. I translate that into my work as a model and on social media," she said at the time.
