Rival camps are turning their fire. Lord Frost, Britain’s former Brexit negotiator who is backing Ms Truss, said on July 14th that he had “grave reservations” about her candidacy. He claimed she was ineffectual when she worked under him as deputy negotiator. Others have painted her as sympathetic to transgender rights, which they believe will irk Conservative members.
