The Mavericks moved up from the last pick in the draft to the 51st spot after a trade with the New York Knicks. The Mavericks gave up their 58th pick and cash considerations.Ajinça was born in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, France. The 20 year old stands at 6-feet-8-inches and has played professional basketball since 2022.
Before the draft, Ajinça played professionally for Saint-Quentin Basket-Ball, a team in France's LNB Pro A league. He also played international ball in the 2023 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup. There, he averaged 19.3 points, 2.9 rebound and 1.6 assists, leading France to the final, where the team lost to Spain.
Ajinça might be a familiar name to die-hard NBA fans.
