The new Bruce Springsteen documentary “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band” is giving fans a look at what happens behind the scenes when The Boss is on tour.
Fans of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band had been noting for several years that the musician's wife and bandmate, Patti Scialfa, had been taking part in fewer live performances. Now, Scialfa is revealing in the new documentary “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band” that she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, in 2018, reported Variety.
' They ended up not taking a woman singer out on that tour, Springsteen said, but Scialfa added she left the experience feeling like Springsteen and the band 'were great.' In 1984, after running in the same New Jersey music scene circles for years, Springsteen asked Scialfa to join the E Street Band as a backing singer on its “Born in the U.S.A. Tour,” according to the Washington Post.
