Meet Austin Tice, Texan investigative journalist held by Syria for more than 12 years now.

FILE - In this image taken from undated video posted to YouTube, American freelance journalist Austin Tice, who had been reporting for American news organizations in Syria until his disappearance in August 2012, prays in Arabic and English while blindfolded in the presence of gunmen. President Joe Biden says Washington is certain that the Syrian government is holding American journalist Austin Tice who went missing in the war-torn country a decade ago urging Damascus to help bring him back home.

Tice was last seen shortly after departing the Damascus suburb of Darayya, Syria, in route to Lebanon over a decade ago. It was there, at a checkpoint, that he was reportedly detained.

“We are mindful that there are Americans in Syria, including those who reside there, as well as Austin Tice, who was taken captive more than 12 years ago. We remain committed to returning him to his family.” Biden said , on a press conference held on Sunday. “We believe he’s alive. We think we can get him back, but we have no direct evidence of that yet.”. They are offering $1 million for information that leads to Tice’s safe return.
