Whitney Houston is seen performing on stage during the 2004 World Music Awards at the Thomas and Mack Center on Sept. 15, 2004 in Las Vegas.At a moment in time when love is especially needed comes an inspiring lyric video for one ofmost enduring chart-topping hits, “Greatest Love of All.” The song is featured on the late singer’s 1985 self-titled debut album, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year with the release of a two-album 12” vinyl collector’s edition.
Available today , the “Greatest Love of All” video underscores the song’s resonating lyrics with powerful images and video footage chronicling the black experience from 1940 to the present day, including clips and photos featuring Houston herself. The lyric video was created by the Black Archive, operated by Chicago-based curator Renata Cherlise, in partnership with the Whitney Houston Estate and Sony Music.
The set features the original album — inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2013 — and the first U.S. release ofHouston, a six-time Grammy winner, will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame later this year. Owing to COVID-19, the induction ceremony has been postponed to Nov. 7.
