FOX's Accused will tell "Brenda's Story" this week, and Screen Rant is thrilled to reveal an exclusive clip from the episode featuring Whitney Cummings and Mary Lynn Rajskub. Accused, which is based on the BAFTA award-winning series from BBC, begins every episode inside a courtroom before proceeding to tell the defendant's side of the story.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Accused episode 7, "Brenda's Story," highlights Cummings as Brenda. An acerbic female stand-up comic, Brenda is assaulted by a fellow comedian and tries to win over the court of public opinion with her platform. As the trailer for the episode suggests, however, she is dissuaded from taking things further by everyone except one person: Rajskub as Tess.
Whether Tess' influence is a positive one or not will be revealed in the episode itself, but the trailer for Accused suggests that she furthers the idea of taking matters further than a stand-up routine. The FOX series has perfected the formula of peeling back the layers of a case through flashbacks in order to explain how an ordinary person winds up in such an extraordinary situation, but the verdict of innocent or guilty must be saved for the end.
Accused is not the only crime program FOX boasts on their network, as 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star have been staples for several seasons now. But by not adhering to the formula, the newest addition stands apart and allows viewers to dive further into a single case from a fresh perspective each week.FOX airs new episodes of Accused on Tuesdays at 9/8c.
