Mayor John Whitmire will address the alleged 'forcing out' of Harris County Sports Authority CEO Janis Burke at a news conference Friday at City Hall . Burke is leaving the organization after being its leader for the last 18 years, the Houston Business Journal first reported Thursday.
Its members are appointed by city and county leaders and are unpaid. The news conference will be livestreamed on Houston TV's website and Facebook page starting at 11 a.m. The sports authority will also hold a meeting today to discuss Burke's employment and hire a law firm to strike a settlement and mutual release agreement with Burke, the Journal reported.
