White supremacist propaganda is spreading at an all-time high, and Texas is at the epicenter
. White, non-Latino, people make up 24.1 percent of the city's population, while Black Houstonians make up 22.6 percent of the population.
The organization recorded 25 killings by domestic extremists in the U.S. across 12 incidents, down from 33 killings in 2021 and similar to 22 killings in 2020. The five-year span of 2015-2019 saw between 47 and 78 extremism-related killings each year. Extremism is “an attempt to try to pit one group against another,” Turner said. “Because people started coming in trying to get people to be fearful of people who they may not know, people feel like their existence has been threatened, that there's this invasion coming.”
