This March 23, 2022 photo provided by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation shows inmate Ronald D. Yandell, a leader of the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang, who is accused of attacking two officers the morning of Nov. 22, 2024 as they were transferring him back to his cell after an appointment at the prison's health building.
Yandell is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for first-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter. He arrived at the prison in 2004. The case will be referred to the county district attorney's office for possible felony prosecution, officials said.The Aryan Brotherhood is a violent white supremacist gang formed within California state prisons in the late 1960s that has since spread in the federal prison system.
