One day after Lucas Giolito exited Opening Day early with an abdominal strain, the White Sox lost another starter.
“I realized last year, I had a little thing that was supposed to be a two, or three day thing. I was back in two, or three days, and then I reaggravated it. So I just want to take care of it, and then be done with it, and just concentrate on the bulk of the season.”
Pollock was set to go on paternity leave following the team’s series finale against the Tigers on Sunday, so if there was ever such a thing as a “good time” for a minor injury, one could suppose this is it. While Pollock couldn’t say whether his tweaked hamstring would keep him out of the lineup when he returns from paternity leave later next week, he did say he expected the injury would be more of a short-term issue than a long-term concern.
“I know when it’s bad, and I know when it’s just something I’ve got to stay on top of, and take care of,” Pollock said. “Short term, I’m pretty confident it’s that.”
