A Birmingham restaurant once sued by a Black cook for racial discrimination has sued the federal government, claiming it was discriminated against and denied COVID relief funds because it is owned by a white man.
Galley and Garden LLC, also referred to in documents as G&G, filed a lawsuit on Nov. 30 against the U.S. Small Business Administration in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. G&G did not receive relief funds, and was notified that it was a non-priority applicant when it applied on May 4, 2021.
