The White Lotus season 3 officially announces that another original character from season 1 will be returning to the HBO anthology series.
The White Lotus season 3 will bring back another original character from season 1. The dark comedy series, which is an anthology that follows deadly mishaps at various locations of the titular luxury resort chain, follows a largely new ensemble of stars each season. The only returning cast member so far in the first two seasons has been Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya McQuoid, a role that earned her both an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
Per Variety, Natasha Rothwell is now set to reprise her season 1 role of Belinda on The White Lotus season 3. There is no word if any other original cast members are intended to return. So far, not much else has been revealed about the season beyond the fact that it will be set in Thailand. She was the manager of the spa at the White Lotus Maui location, but she had dreams of opening her own wellness business. After forming a tentative bond with Tanya, the pair discussed potentially going into business together, but Tanya proved to be less invested in the prospect than she originally seemed.
Tanya would later go on to die over the course of the events of season 2, which took place in Italy. While it's unclear exactly how Belinda's presence in The White Lotus' Thailand location could connect with her storyline, it seems likely that Tanya's death will be what brings her to this new location. Considering the fact that they are the only two characters to return so far, it makes the most sense that they would be linked.
It's possible that Tanya's money will have led Belinda to take matters into her own hands and open up shop in Thailand. However, her journey away from Maui in The White Lotus season 3 may take on a more spiritual bent, considering her interest in Eastern wellness techniques. It could also be the fact that she has merely been transferred to a new location, though it seems likely that her presence will be revealed to be more complicated than that.
