Maintaining a close relationship with Moscow has always been part of what India calls its ‘neutral stance’ on the world stage. Despite this – and allegations of human rights abuses against minorities in India – the White House has rolled out the red carpet for the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, as Joe Biden seeks to bring Delhi into its sphere of influence .
