Weekly White House Report Card ✏️ jedbabbin, 'D-' — highlighted this week's bad economic numbers ZogbyStrategies 'C' — reported that Biden had another confounding week
On the positive side, he won a Supreme Court decision for his plan to pick and choose which criminal illegal immigrants to deport. And he continues to run ahead of or be in the margin of error of 2024 election polls pitting him against former President Donald Trump or Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. On the negative side, his son cut a deal to plead guilty to misdemeanor tax and gun charges in a growing scandal that is getting very close to the Oval Office. Inflation continues to rage.
Last week we reported that the government said inflation had moderated from about 9% last year to only 4% in April. But, as we should have realized, the rate of inflation doesn’t include major items such as groceries or the cost of energy . The Consumer Price Index, which does include those items, was at an 8.5% increase year over year. It’s the inflation people really feel, and it’s entirely due to Biden’s spending.
Biden announced that he was adding another $600 million to anti-climate change spending. That is on top of the $400 billion contained in the"Inflation Reduction Act” he’s already spent on the fictional crisis. No wonder the Center for Disease Control reported that one-in-five Americans are diagnosed with depression.
As Biden said after delivering an anti-gun speech in Connecticut, “All right. God save the queen, man.”First, his son Hunter pleaded guilty to misdemeanor tax and gun charges and received probation instead of jail time. A slap on the hand and sure to set off a monthslong firestorm of charges of favoritism and two-tiered justice from conservatives.
