White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany tested positive for coronavirus
McEnany had direct contact with Trump’s senior advisor Hope Hicks, who tested positive for the virus before Trump on Thursday, and was subsequently pulled off a fundraising trip to New Jersey that President Trump still attended.
However, citing negative test results, McEnany continued her duties in the White House through the rest of the week and over the weekend.Despite this, McEnany wrote in a Monday statement: “No reporters, producers, or members of the press are listed as close contacts by the White House Medical Unit.”McEnany was present at the Sept. 26 nomination ceremony for President Trump’s Supreme Court pick Amy Coney Barrett, where high-profile attendees gathered mostly mask-less.
