The White House is making 'contingency plans' for a second wave of coronavirus after emails reportedly contradict their claims that Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines to safely reopen the economy were set aside because medical experts did not approve of them.
Redfield was said to have shared the guidance, along with several"decision trees" to develop strategies on reopening, with administration officials including Jared Kushner and President Donald Trump's advisers Kellyanne Conway and Joseph Grogan as early as April 10. Redfield's fellow coronavirus task force members Dr. Deborah Birx and Dr. Anthony Fauci were also included in the emails.
President Donald Trump speaks with Congressional Republicans during a meeting at the White House in Washington, D.C. on May 8, 2020.Before the guidance document leaked, the AP reported that anonymous CDC officials not authorized to speak on the matter said they were told the document"would never see the light of day." The White House claimed that CDC leaders did not clear the"over prescriptive" guidelines contained in the document.
