White House involved in historic Halong storm aid operation, state leaders say

State leaders say they’re ramping up for a historic operation to provide aid to the communities affected by storm Halong, which includes help from the White House.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - State leaders say they’re ramping up for a historic operation to provide aid to communities impacted by Typhoon Halong , which includes help from the White House . “I have been contacted by the White House , and I know the governor has as well,” Major General Torrence Saxe of the U.

S. Air Force said beside the governor Monday, along with dozens of other state and military leaders. “They have offered up their assistance and certainly Northern Command.” Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, who was on the call with the rest of the Congressional delegation, said FEMA Director David Richardson and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem are both ready to assist. Alaska’s News Source reached out to the White House for comment Monday. Response has not been returned.“This is all hands on deck,” he said. “Operation from the state perspective, from the local perspective. And I want to thank all the local folks out there.” As of publication, at least 51 people and two dogs were rescued from the two villages, according to Alaska state troopers.
