President Donald Trump is once again back at the table to negotiate a multi-trillion dollar stimulus deal with just weeks to go before the election, the latest sudden turn in talks that have whipsawed back and forth for months
Pelosi and Mnuchin spoke by phone for roughly 30 minutes Friday afternoon, during which "the Secretary returned to the table with a proposal that attempted to address some of the concerns Democrats have," according to a Pelosi spokesperson. But Democrats said they are still waiting for more details as the two parties continue haggling over the total price tag.
"I would like to see a bigger stimulus package than, frankly, either the Democrats or the Republicans are offering,” Trump said on an appearance of the Rush Limbaugh Show on Friday, acknowledging it was “the exact opposite" of his initial demands. "Even if an agreement is reached ... the first item of priority in the Senate is the Supreme Court," McConnell said at an event in his home state. He added it depends “on what the agreement is, how complicated it is, how long it takes to write it. I couldn't tell you exactly when it would pass."
