p In an exclusive interview with 2News, a former Division of Child and Family Services worker is speaking out about what she describes as a "broken system" that is failing Utah families. /p
"The people that work there, they're very passionate about it," she said. "But they're being placed with unrealistic expectations. It's unfair to put them in these situations where they don't have the time to produce quality work, or if they do decide to put in the time, they're sacrificing so much.""There was a time where they had one person be responsible for any P2s that came in, meaning you have to respond within 24 hours. I received over five.
"For a long time, for many, many years, we had incredibly high turnover, and we had incredibly high vacancy rates. And there were times that that type of information would not surprise me," Myrup said."We were able to get compensation increases for caseworkers, and we have seen that that has really led to some stability in our workforce, where we're not seeing that crushing level of turnover that made it really difficult for those frontline workers," she added.
The whistleblower, meanwhile, urged the public to continue advocating for children and demanding better support from state agencies.
