Community group chair Alex O'Kane said the incident illustrates 'the reality' of the current energy crisis.
People living in a Glasgow community held a 'whip round' to allow a local family to get their electricity back on.
The activist was speaking after launching a campaign calling for government action to curb the rise in youth violence in the city centre.Through his work in the community, Alex is of the belief that a lack of local youth centres across Glasgow, coupled with the cost of living crisis, is leading to youngsters spending time roaming the streets instead.
He said: "There was a family up here in the dark last week. We had a whip round to get their electricity back on. That's the reality. What do you expect a kid sitting in a dark house to do? They'll end up going into the city centre, hassling people for food and getting their dinner that way. You can understand the thought process behind it."I've heard from adults who are being approached by groups of kids telling them they're hungry and have no money for the train.
