There are plenty of independent restaurants that specialize in them and even a few national chains -- like Buffalo Wild Wings and Wing Stop -- where they are foodie focus.

But the easiest place to find wings these days might be your favorite pizza shop or chain. In fact, the wing and pizza have a long, symbiotic relationship.– a Buffalo pizza joint that has been serving up pies since 1957 – claims to be the birthplace of wings, first introducing them to the masses in the 1990s. Since then, all of the national pizza chains have jumped on the wings bandwagon.

With that in mind, cleveland.com’s Best of Cleveland team decided to hit the road to taste-test wings at 13 national pizza chains found across Northeast Ohio. Our thoughts are based on the quality of the chicken, how well they were cooked, and the flavor of the sauce. For consistency’s sake, we ordered all the wings with barbeque sauce.
