When President-elect Donald Trump takes the oath of office again on Jan. 20, he’ll do so with one hand on a bible.

President-elect Donald Trump will be sworn in for a second term on Jan. 20, 2025, taking the oath of office with one hand on a bible. There’s a lot of history behind inauguration bibles and the reasons why presidents chose them. The first one used at a presidential inauguration in the United States was on April 30, 1789, when George Washington borrowed one from a local Masonic Lodge.

Publishers of the Trump-backed God Bless the USA Bible have released a limited-run "Inauguration Day Bible" ahead of Trump’s inauguration. The inauguration bible costs $69.99. The bible publishes the King James translation along with the text of the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Pledge of Allegiance and the lyrics to the chorus of "God Bless the USA," the 1984 Lee Greenwood hit song. It also comes with a DVD of a concert honoring Greenwood.
