The Thing follows a group of scientists at a Norwegian Antarctic research station that discovers a parasitic alien stuck in the ice. The film, made in 2011, is a prequel to the 1982 film of the same name and is based on the novella "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell.

This is a major film and television studio located in the Port Lands area of Toronto, Canada. Pinewood Toronto Studios includes seven sound stages and one converted warehouse. It's unclear where exactly in the studio The Thing was filmed, but filming ran from March 22, 2010, to June 28, 2010, a total of three months.
