Black cowboys and cowgirls compete for cash prizes in bronc and bull riding, calf and steer roping, barrel racing and a Pony Express relay race. There also will be on-field activities for children. The Grand Entry Parade will highlight the contributions made by Black Americans in settling the American West. Festival admission is free; deadline to register for the walk has passed.The Birds in Paradise topiaries will be on display during the Juneteenth and Father's Day weekend at the Dallas Arboretum.Visit the garden, view the giant peacock topiaries and murals, and enjoy live music, tastings and cooking demos as well as fun activities for the kids.
June 18-20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road, Dallas. $16 for adults, $14 for ages 65 and older, $10 for ages 2-12, free for children 1 and younger. During the weekend, entrance to the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden is complimentary with garden admission.The Galleria has commissioned a T-shirt from local illustrator and fiber artist Niki Dionne, whose creations are multidimensional portrayals of Black life in America.

Free.It’s a big day as Dallas Heritage Village officially changes its name to Old City Park and celebrates Father’s Day and Juneteenth. Activities kick off with a ribbon cutting at the park’s entrance at 10 a.m.
