The WOmens World Cup final could mark another major victory for England
Many will watch in anticipation following the Lionnesses' 3-1 victory in the semi-final. Goals from Ella Toone, Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo gave England the win over the Matildas in Sydney – with thousands of fans taking time off work to watch the match.
Royals, celebrities and former players all sent congratulatory messages to the Lionesses after the game. Now, many more will watch the final on Sunday, August 20 which will have an early kick-off time of 11am UK time. Many have even called on the government to loosen licensing rules for the special occasion to boost alcohol sales for opening hours. This is because 'most' pubs are going to be unlikely to serve alcohol until 11am, according to the British Beer and Pub Association.
Meanwhile, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has called for a celebratory bank holiday if England win Sunday's match and take home the world champion title. However, the government confirmed it has no plans for a bank holiday but will find the "right way to celebrate" if the Lionesses are victorious. Where is the Women's World Cup final? The Women's World Cup final will take place at Stadium Australia in Sydney which was selected to host five matches throughout the whole tournament. However, if you can't make your way there you'll still be able to watch the final live on BBC and ITV 1 with the BBC's coverage taking place at 10am and ITV starting at 10.15am.
If the Lionesses win on Sunday, it will mark their second consecutive major win in two years following their victory against Germany 2-1 in the Euro final last year.
