California officials are searching through a landfill for the body of a 3-week-old missing infant, whose case is now being treated as a homicide.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report about the disappearance of Baki Dewees in Palmdale on Tuesday, according to an advisory from the Sheriff's Department Information Bureau.Family members said the infant has been missing since May 3, according to a flier posted on social media. The child was born on April 14. He was last seen with his father, 24-year-old Yusuf Dewees.
The timeline of the disappearanceYusuf Dewees took Baki Dewees from his grandmother's house on May 3 and the family has not seen the child since, according to the Facebook post.Despite the shift to a homicide investigation, the family remains hopeful the baby is found alive and safe.The infant's parents are currently in custody in Ogden, Utah, according to jail records.Yusuf Dewees was arrested on May 7 and charged with obstruction of justice and making a false statement.
