The scammer — also known as Anna Delvey, whose story turned into the Netflix series “Inventing Anna” — is out of jail after serving more than three years behind bars. Sorokin still faces possible deportation.
Anna Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, made headlines in 2018 after she was arrested for posing as a German heiress and swindling banks, hotels and many individuals out of more than $200,000. The con artist became an unexpected star after the release of 'Inventing Anna' on Netflix in 2022, and she's now appearing on a show of her own — Season 33 of 'Dancing With the Stars.' Sorokin will remain under house arrest, with electronic monitoring, at her New York apartment. According to her immigration attorney, John Sangweg, she will continue to face deportation proceedings and her release will be closely monitored by ICE and the state of New York. Speaking to New York Magazine in November 2022, Sorokin shared the fashion challenges that come with an ankle bracelet.
