Holiday festivities are getting into swing in communities across San Diego County. Here’s a guide to parades, community holiday shows and festivities to celebrate the season. Check the venue’s website for updates.Alpine’s “Parade of Lights” starts at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 at Alpine Boulevard and West Victoria and will be on the main stretch of Alpine Boulevard. The parade is hosted by the Alpine Chamber of Commerce.
The light show runs through Jan. 5 at the San Diego Botanic Garden, 300 Quail Gardens Drive. The immersive experience guides visitors through a mile-long garden trail of one million twinkling lights featuring light installations designed by international artists. Installations range from Flame Skimmer Dragonfly and Winter Cathedral to California Poppies. There will be hot chocolate and other seasonal treats.
San Pasqual High School hosts the third annual Noche Buena from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at San Pasqual High School, 300 Bear Valley Parkway. There will be student music and dance performances and games along with food for purchase.The Escondido High School Agriculture department puts on its annual Winter Wonderland with the Escondido High Ag Boosters and Future Farmers of America from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Escondido High School farm.
Holiday festival from 3 to 11 p.m. Dec. 1 and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Dec. 2 at Balboa Park. The family-friendly event features holiday lights, sounds, entertainment and food. Visit The annual event at the beachside amusement park runs Nov. 22 through Dec. 31 featuring festive rides and attractions, including the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster, Peppermint Putt Putt at Tiki Wonderland and Candy Cane Lanes Go Karts and and Polar Plunge.
La Jolla holds a Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival with the theme “’Palm Trees & Poinsettias — A California Christmas’” Dec. 8. The Holiday Festival opens at 11:30 a.m. at Girard and Wall streets, and the parade starts at 1:30 p.m. at Kline and Girard. The event closes at 4 p.m. VisitPacific Beach holds its annual San Diego Santa Run on Dec. 14. The starting line is 912 Garnet Ave. The 5K Santa Run takes off at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. The Kid’s 1-mile run is 11:30 a.m.
