The San Francisco Bay Area is forecast to be mostly dry Monday. When will the rain return?
A few isolated showers passed through the San Francisco Bay Area before sunrise Monday as a low-pressure system that delivered a soaking on Sunday exited the region. Dry conditions are expected Monday afternoon and through Tuesday and Wednesday, but the rain is forecast to return Thursday and Friday. “It’s typical to get some passing storms at this time of year before winter when we see the majority of our rain,” said Dial Hoang, a forecaster with the National Weather Service.
On Thursday and Friday, a low-pressure system from British Columbia is forecast to sweep Northern California and bring light rain to the Bay Area. Hoang said rainfall totals will likely be lower with this system than with the one that delivered rain on Sunday. Rainfall totals are expected to range from a tenth of an inch to a quarter inch across the region. The coastal mountains of the North Bay could receive rain of up to a half inch to three quarters of an inch.
