Share to linkedin Jolyne Caruso-Fitzgerald, divisional vice chairman, Global Wealth Management, Ultra High Net Worth, UBS Financial Services Inc.

Jolyne Caruso-Fitzgerald had a long and successful career in large investment banks and hedge funds. In the aftermath of the recession, she struck out with a partner to start The Alberleen Group in 2010. They saw an opportunity to provide investment bankers with shared infrastructure to start their own firms. It turned out that few investment bankers were rainmakers, that is, had the ability to attract clients. “Very few of them could survive,” she said.

This paralleled Caruso-Fitzgerald interests. “I was the first check into Golden Seeds,” she said. Golden Seeds, founded in 2005, is an angel network providing a venue for angel investors to learn about and collaborate on investing in women-led companies. Later, it also launched its own venture funds.

The needs of family offices were getting more complex and sophisticated. They required solutions that. Caruso-Fitzgerald’s clients wanted her to manage more of their money for them. Alberleen didn’t have those capabilities. Much to Caruso-Fitzgerald’s delight, her investors could not have been more supportive. They told her that she had worked for nine years and built a firm she should be proud of. They advised her to use her knowledge and connections to do great things at UBS. Alberleen continues under the guidance of its cofounder, Adam Goodfriend.
