The Premier League has sanctioned two clubs already in an unprecedented season as Manchester City await their fate
After the Premier League imposed sanctions on Everton and Nottingham Forest this season for breaches of their rules on profit and sustainability , Manchester City have been waiting in the background.
“If any club, whether they are the current champions or otherwise, had been found in breach of the spending rules for year ’23, they would be in exactly the same position as Everton or Nottingham Forest,” Masters said. It was back in February 2023 when the charges were brought to City and made public. The Premier League said that the English champions had failed to give "a true and fair view of the club’s financial position".
