Bad news: Winds will be howling in the Bay Area on Monday. Good news: After that, spring weather is finally coming to the region.
The relentless string of atmospheric rivers finally appears to be over, at least in the immediate future. But there will still be plenty of wind to start the Bay Area's week.
The agency has issued a wind advisory along the Bay Area coastline from Sonoma to Monterey counties, starting at 5 a.m. Monday and lasting until 11 p.m. Officials are expecting sustained winds of 35 to 39 mph at elevations below 900 feet and gusts of 45 to 57 mph at elevations between 900 and 2,500 feet.
The strongest gusts are expected to blow into the region between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday, with maximum wind speeds in San Francisco reaching approximately 32 mph, Oakland at 30 mph and San Jose at 35 mph. Winds will subside overnight before picking up again on Tuesday afternoon, with San Francisco peaking at 28 mph at, again, between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
