Former San Diego State standout jumped at chance to return to school as quarterbacks coach and assist Aztecs in time of need

When SDSU head coach Brady Hoke arrived in the football offices about 6 a.m. Monday, Lindley was already there. The El Capitan High graduate threw for a school-record 12,690 yards — 12th on the NCAA career passing list at the time — among several records he set for the Aztecs.Lindley has accomplished quite a bit in a few short years.

He was hired away during the middle of the 2018 season by the Cleveland Browns when they needed a running backs coach, moving to quarterbacks coach a year later. Said Lindley: “I feel like it’s kind of been 100 mph since I got here. I’d like to think that I’m still close enough to my playing days to understand that feeling. Sitting down watching these past games, watching last game with Braxton, I’ve been there.
