A wheelchair stolen from a concert goer at a concert at Frost Bank Center has been recovered. SAN ANTONIO - A wheelchair that had been stolen during a concert at Frost Bank Center last week was found in an unusual place.
On Tuesday, the Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office announced that they had recovered a wheelchair stolen from a spectator at a Blink-182 concert on June 24, 2024. Investigators had been contacted on Monday by the North Bexar County Emergency Service District, which said that the chair had been discovered in a grassy area by firefighters doing yard work.
The owner of the chair, Tara Ryan, was quickly contacted, and her chair was promptly returned to her. “While we are thankful for the return of my custom wheelchair, we are saddened that it happened in the first place,” said Ryan. “Having been diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia, a form of muscular dystrophy, my wheelchair is essentially an extension of my body. My hope after all of this, is that we are able to bring awareness to people like myself. What you took wasn’t just a wheelchair, it was my mobility.
