A surprise character death in The Wheel of Time season 2 finale sets up a better version of a major revenge plot from the books for season 3.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary The Wheel of Time season 2 finale sets up a better version of a major revenge story from Robert Jordan’s books. There’s no shortage of moving parts in the finale, which advances the storylines of several major Wheel of Time characters. While the central focus of the episode was the promise of Rand being proclaimed the Dragon Reborn in Falme, it was hardly the only noteworthy development with wide-reaching implications.
In fact, the episode set the stage for a number of important arcs from The Wheel of Time books. Mat blew the Horn of Valere and made a game-changing discovery about his past lives in the Wheel. Moghedien made her first appearance, and confirmed that the rest of the Forsaken on the loose too. Masema, who had been a mostly silent figure throughout the season, was positioned to become the Prophet of the Dragon that he is in the source material.
Perrin Killing Geofram Bornhald Changes A Major Wheel Of Time Storyline Hopper’s death is a significant departure from the source material, and not just because it prevents the show from continuing his adventures with Perrin. Heading in this direction led to Perrin retaliating against Hopper’s killer, Geofram Bornhald. Witnessing the act, Dain attacked Perrin but was pulled out of harm’s way by his fellow Whitecloaks.
Similar to the character in the Prime Video series, Geofram lost his life in the battle at Falme. The difference between this and the book is that Perrin had nothing to do with it. Dain only believed that Perrin was responsible for Geofram's death because of false assumptions and lies. He knew Perrin was there, and was told he was the killer. He had no real evidence, yet pursued him religiously regardless, causing confusion about why Dain was so sure that Perrin was his father’s murderer.
Perrin’s New Nickname Hints At Dain Bornhald’s Revenge Plan Before The Wheel of Time even gave Dain a reason to hate Perrin, the show planted a clue about what his revenge plan would be. Upon meeting Perrin, Dain nicknamed him “Two Rivers” in reference to the former’s home village and used it again in the finale.
