The danger of the Dragon Reborn is an essential part of his legacy, so it's important that the audience understands what could happen if things go badly for Rand.
Wheel Of Time Sets Up Logain To Be A Huge Character The other good thing about Logain's early introduction and show changes in The Wheel of Time is that he is being set up to be a huge character on the show. Logain is definitely important in the books, but his story is extremely spread out and falls a little bit flat by the end. It always feels like Logain is being set up for something huge in the books, but he never quite gets there.
This would certainly give Logain an essential role from the start and help the show avoid the underdevelopment issues his character has in the books. Alternatively, The Wheel of Time could set up Logain's story with the Black Tower early by moving up Nynaeve's discovery of reconnecting someone to the One Power after they've been severed. Either way, Logain's heavy involvement in The Wheel of Time season 1 seems to imply a much bigger role for the character moving forward.
