Kyle Rittenhouse’s arrival in Conroe hit some snags, but the 20-year-old is set to hit the stage at the Lone Star Convention Center in a “Rally Against Censorship” Thursday evening.
He is attending Blinn College — not Texas A&Mhe intended to attend Texas A&M University after visiting the College Station campus a month prior.A Texas A&M spokesperson clarified that wasas a student that fall. Rittenhouse then announced new plans to move to Brenham and attend Blinn College in fall 2022, with plans to transfer to Texas A&M two years later.
During his trial, Rittenhouse also said he was taking online courses at Arizona State University. The university said he was not an ASU student.The “Rally Against Censorship” was first scheduled to take place at Southern Star Brewing in Conroe. Two days later, the brewery“Southern Star Brewery is an apolitical organization, but we feel that this event doesn't reflect our own values and we could not in good faith continue to rent our space for the event on 1/26,” the brewery said on Facebook.
Southern Star Brewery CEO Dave Fougeron said he didn’t know that the rally would include Rittenhouse. But it wasn’t Rittenhouse that caused him to cancel; ultimately, he said it was his customers’ response. “I canceled the event plain and simple because my customers were dissatisfied,” Fougeron said. “I’m not political, my company sure isn’t political.
